The plot of the story so far, is James, Lauren, Abigail, and Dana have been accepted into the commune of the Survivors. They are trying to penetrate the Survivors and Help Earth’s organization’s, they think the two organizations are working together. James has become a friend of Rat (Rathbone) Regan. Lauren has just asked started talking to James about how the survivors are lying to get money from people, and how badly she feels about this, James cheers her up by busting open their money containers and getting an ice cream.
What is the setting of the novel? Is the setting important or could the novel be happening anywhere? Why? The setting of the novel is at first, the campus that all the Cherub students worked, James had been in the Dojo training, it then changed to Hong Kong, where Kerry, Bruce, Kyle, and Chloe are living in a 20 story hotel, then it changed to James in his sister’s room, after having a very fun night in town. The story then changes to James' room, then the briefing room on campus, Lauren, James, Dana, Abigail, and John Jones talk about the mission they are about to go on. They then take a flight to Brisbane, Australia. They live in a very big house, with 6 bed rooms and plenty of other rooms. They then move into the commune, a big mall turned into a living, physical, bed and fun room. There are about 150-300 kids living in the commune at a time. The setting IS important because, if you put the kids in a house, just an ordinary house the story could not progress because they would not meet the people in the book, such as Elliot or Eve.
Comment on the style of the novel. Is it easy or hard to follow the events? The style of the novel, I think, is quite good, the different types of novel that you could classify this book as is quite a stand out to me. When I read a book, if it is just one type of book (i.e. crime) I would be interested, but not very interested. If the book has many tastes to it, I would definitely read it, especially if it was a crime, action, and mystery book. In the book, the events that happen are very, very easy to follow. This is because Robert Muchamore makes each event that happens very different from the last, such as right before the travel to the commune, James had all his own clothes, then he had to mix all his clothes with everybody else's.
Is the language in the novel difficult or easy? GIve examples and explain. The language in the novel is not difficult, it is actually quite easy, the book is being looked at in 3rd person, so there are not many people’s thoughts in the book, it is just basically them talking, but it is casual talk at the moment, in the story, so they speak with regular words, not using many words that are over 8 letters. Such as this quote “‘Are you doing homework with Rebecca tonight?’ Kerry nodded. ‘As soon as I’m changed. Why, what’s going on?” The whole first 143 pages are written like this. 10/10
